Three Room Glow Up in Highland

Mudroom, family & Powder Room Overhaul

A Three Room Glow Up: From “Help Us” to “Hello, Magazine Ready”
Every so often a project comes along that politely whispers, “We need a little help.”
This home did not whisper. It shouted. Nicely, of course. This is the suburbs.

The Family Room: Where Beige Came to Thrive… and Then We Intervened
Back in 2024 we tackled the family room first. It began as many do, a perfectly fine space that had simply been living its life without a stylist. It had good bones but lacked the confidence to show them off. So we gave it a pep talk and a complete architectural upgrade.

We added coffered ceilings because sometimes a room needs a crown worthy moment. We continued the chair rail for visual cohesion and to prove once and for all that trim really can change everything. New carpeting softened the space, and fresh furniture brought in all the comfort without any of the “my kids climbed this like a jungle gym” energy.
By the time we styled the coffee table, this room officially identified as a calm, collected, grown up version of its former self.

The Powder Room: The Blank Slate That Became a Supermodel
Also in 2024, we transformed the powder room. Every home has that bathroom, the one guests always end up in and the one homeowner always promise to deal with later. This powder room was exactly that, a blank box waiting for its moment.

So we gave it glamour. Wallpaper with personality, a navy vanity with brassy hardware, and a show stopping mirror that said, “Hi, yes, I am the moment.” Now when guests use the restroom, they come out talking about the decor. A true victory.

The Mudroom: Where Chaos Once Lived Rent Free
Fast forward to 2025 when we returned to finish what we started. The mudroom, or more accurately the mud closet, had been doing its best. Between coats, soccer gear, rogue shoes, and that red plush creature that none of us could identify, the space had clearly reached its limit.

We removed a wall to open it up and finally give this area the breathing room it deserved. Custom built ins, a proper bench, useful cubbies, and a blue door that makes an entrance all its own completed the transformation. Now it functions, it flows, and it no longer cries itself to sleep under piles of winter coats.

From Overwhelmed to Elevated
Three rooms. Two phases. One family that now gets to enjoy spaces that work beautifully and look even better.
This renovation brought light, structure, beauty, and just enough snark to keep things interesting. And now each room shines in its own right, proof that with the right vision and a gentle nudge, every corner of a home can glow up.
